John Milton in his Paradise Lost had said that, ‘Mind in itself can make a heaven of hell and hell of heaven.’ When I read that line at first, few years ago, I understood the meaning but couldn’t exactly get the feel of it. But now after getting associated with Yoga and meditation I understand what he meant.
Be here now. Be someplace else later. Is that so complicated?
Mind is a powerful tool. It can take you to far off places, while sitting in the confine of the room and it can make you feel solitude in the crowd. If we can control our mind we can achieve any feat in life because at the end it’s all about mind. However, it’s not easy to control mind. If it was easy then there wouldn’t be any violence or negativity in the world.
The affairs of the world will go on forever. Do not delay the practice of meditation.
The art of controlling mind is called meditation. It has been rightly said that exercise is to body what meditation is to mind. Meditation is what enables sage to sit calmly in freezing cold, and stay firm in storm and thunder. Such is the power of mind and meditation.
I can go on describing the benefits of meditation but you wouldn’t understand until you feel it. To feel it you need to try it.
To learn meditation, it is important to know about its knows and hows and little nuances. To know that you need a guru who can guide you through the process. There are various techniques and methods of meditation. It is really important to understand them before attempting to copy the techniques.
